We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join our exciting innovative Community Investment & Tenancy Sustainment team, to assist and offer guidance to our customers, through difficulties they encounter and help be better prepared to manage challenges they may face, no two days are the same.

We work with all areas of our business and with external partners, to assist our customers to sustain their tenancies, improve their lives and their living environment. We have a great supportive team atmosphere, which shares their ideas and skills, with a one team attitude.

This opportunity will give you the chance to learn new skills and access new experiences in a leading housing association. You will be working out in the field on a one-to-one basis with our customers, while also offering assistance through phone and IT platforms. You will work closely with colleagues and partners to deliver information, advice and guidance. You will also signpost our customers to other external support, services and agencies who may be able to help them. You will manage your own caseload and work closely with other teams in our company.

It is essential that the successful candidate has experience in challenging benefit decisions and experience in calculating benefit entitlement.
 

This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis, it is a field-based working across the Cornwall area, travel is essential.

About The Candidate

To be considered for the role of Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will be/have:

  • Able to demonstrate transferable skills which could assist customers.
  • Experience of working with adults with vulnerabilities.
  • An understanding of safeguarding cases.
  • Able to assess a customer’s needs.
  • Good understanding of DWP, benefit calculations and challenging decisions.
  • Good understanding of Local Authority processes.
  • An understanding of Social Housing.
  • Financial awareness and understanding of budgeting.
  • A willingness to research opportunities for residents through local charities & grants funding.
  • Experience of working successfully across teams.
  • Experience of working with external agencies to ensure solutions.
  • An understanding of hoarding.
  • Supporting customers across a large geographic area.
  • Good level of IT skills including knowledge of MS office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Confident in working remotely and managing your own calendar, travel and appointments to deliver the service.
  • Good skills around working digitally, using various methods of communication such as WhatsApp, text, email and Microsoft Teams.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
