About The Role

In this exciting role, you will be at the heart of transforming how we manage and utilise data. Working closely with Finance, Business Intelligence, and key stakeholders, you will help shape and enhance our Information Management Platform (IMP) and data warehouse to support strategic decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate finance and operational data needs into robust, scalable data solutions.
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT processes to ensure efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
  • Apply STAR schema and Kimball dimensional modelling to optimise data structures for performance and usability.
  • Extend and maintain the data warehouse, integrating financial and operational datasets (e.g., general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, repairs, staffing).
  • Develop and manage a backlog of user stories, delivering high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Support Power BI reporting and self-service analytics, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and accessible for business users.

This role is being offered on a full time, fixed term basis until June 2027. The successful candidate will be working 37 hours per week. Hybrid working is available for this role working 2 - 3 days per week in our Exeter office dependent on business need.

About The Candidate

To be successful in your application for the role of Information Platform Developer - Finance, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in designing and developing Data Warehouses, with strong knowledge of STAR schema and Kimball dimensional modelling principles.
  • Proficient in advanced T-SQL development for Data Warehousing, using recent versions of SQL Server or Azure SQL Database.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective and scalable data solutions.
  • Practical experience across the Data Warehouse development lifecycle, including development, testing, and production environments.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, integrating data from a variety of sources including APIs and third-party services.
  • Skilled in researching technical solutions and applying industry best practices to deliver robust outcomes.
  • Ability to manage and deliver high-quality solutions within Agile frameworks, developing and prioritising user stories.
  • Awareness of information security and data protection practices, including anonymisation techniques and GDPR compliance.
  • Proficient level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Educated to degree-level standard or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of the financial sector or experience working with financial datasets.
  • Experience developing and optimising Power BI datasets, with strong DAX skills and visualisation best practices.
  • Familiarity with data protection requirements and information security principles, particularly in regulated environments.
